Latest update: 02/04

This article aims to collect all relevant changes to help judges and players. There are a lot of them and this article is going to be updated periodically. If you want to add anything, please contact me on Discord.

Core rules changes

All tokens now have intrinsic properties based on their name.

Now it’s clear that sacrificing the unit you want to equip Blade of the Ruined King is an illegal action

You choose whether you put triggered abilities with a may on the chain. This can be important to deny reaction timings, and fundamentally changes how Reaver’s Row functions with Irelia, for example.

Now you are forced to pay costs within instructions of an effect to put it on the chain, which changes how cards like Overzealous Fan and Sinister Poro work, forcing you to pay upfront and risk getting blown out. Also changes Monastery of Hirana – Warmog’s Armor interaction, since the buff has to be spent upfront.

Fiora Peerless only gets one chance to trigger per combat. If not all requirements are met, even if they are met again and her when I attack trigger was never fulfilled, she will not get her effect that combat.

Replacement effects of Soraka, Wanderer now seem to work on units dying at the same time as her.

Ivern never gives back the battlefield if it replaces a brush with a brush.

During a cleanup, when victory points are checked, a player only wins if they have more points than every opponent.

Looping burn outs are prevented now: as soon as they start to loop, a player will win through prevention effects and without needing cleanups (previously, the game would be stuck in a burn out loop if a player had no cards in the trash and burned out).

Legion cards do not activate themselves in case of abilities. Sun Disc won’t be active the turn you play it without playing other cards.

Now legion is active even in the case of counters.

Now you can play at speeds under conditions that haven’t yet occurred, and the conditions will be checked in the check legality step. This allows units with Ambush to be played at reaction speed.

Control of a battlefield is not lost as long as the state is closed. This changes how Arcane Shift and similar cards work, as you retain control of the battlefield as long as there are items on the chain, meaning the banished unit can be replayed on the battlefield even outside of showdowns.

Showdowns transition to combat as soon as the state opens, meaning you might not have a chance to respond at action speed while units are outside of combat with cards like Hextech Ray to avoid the shield of Shen, Kinkou.

Multiple Time Warps now modify the turn order.

Conquering effects are now within combat. This means that Sunken Temple will now work with Assault.

Granted text is not made inactive, which means that Fading Memory’s temporary will be able to kill an attached equipment.
